Eugenia Stamboliev presented her paper “Visualising the Ordinary: On Pierre Schoeller’s ‘The Lost Time’” at the conference “On the Move: Migration, Societies and Change” in Manchester, 30 Oct to Nov 1 2017. Her paper discussed a documentary on the Kawergosk refugee camp in Iraq that was broadcasted by ARTE, a Franco-German TV network. She outlines the collaborative nature in the making of the film in which refugees are included as camera operators. The different points of views embedded in the documentary create an ‘unexcited’ film aesthetics implying a critique on the sensationalist and marginalising press language.
Her paper is part of her research on “On the social gesture in digital media technology.”.
